Markets and Events
A rainy day gives me an opportunity to put down a few thoughts about Muckles August adventures (don’t get too excited) along with busy plans for September.
It was a treat to spend a sunny Sunday morning at the splendid and very local Haltwhistle Railway Station for the monthly Makers Market. It’s not a busy travel terminal which is a positive, so a couple of trains per hour each with only a couple of carriages was lovely.
Agricultural Shows across Northumberland, Cumbria and Co. Durham are in full swing and we love them. From the mighty Glendale Show near Wooler to the tiny Weardale Show in Co. Durham, we’ve been enjoying long days in the food marquees selling bottled beers and of course eating delicious local produce.
In The Brewery
As the Autumn colours across our beautiful landscape appear, so do our darker beers with Muckle Buster red and Muckle Moss Stout brewed and now bottle conditioning ready for labelling in another week and then to the cold store before delivery to stockists and markets. As our keen readers will know, Muckle Bari brown and Muckle Berry winter ale have been brewed for the first time since last Christmas, and both were launched during the hottest weeks of 2025!
If you enjoy a day out then August and September are the months to visit some super agricultural shows, big and small, in Northumberland, County Durham and Cumbria. The small but beautiful Weardale Show is super for families; with free entrance for children and no charge for all their activities. Please check our events list below.
Muckle Tour
Muckle tours during August included the delightful Angels’ View Tour in the gallery of Carlisle Cathedral (great cafe too!), ice-creams in Craster during our delivery day, and Roker beach plus the Sculpture Trail at St Peter’s Wharf, Sunderland.
Coming Up
We’ll be enjoying County Durham’s super Wolsingham Show Saturday and Sunday this weekend followed by Kendal’s Westmorland Show Wednesday and Thursday next week, plus our regular Farmers’ Markets. Hopefully we’ll see you out and about. Between events the whole cycle of brewing/bottling/labelling continues, with Muckle’s range of 14 beers and lagers plus a few casks. Of course we have a few outings planned too, the highlights of which I’ll update you on next month……
