July 2025

Welcome to our June Newsletter!

Markets

After the sun comes the rain, and we’ve had enough of it now! Moving a couple of hundred cardboard boxes of Tickle, Chuckle, Pride of Park and Whin Sill Blonde from the brewery (behind the house) to the cold store (in front of the house) by sack-barrow in between showers is frustrating; though at least it keeps us fit!

Events in June were blessed with good weather thankfully. Tynedale Beer Festival was a huge success, giving us the opportunity to catch up with customers and fellow brewers; plus try new beers as well test as our own.

Sheep are the highlight at the lovely traditional Roman Wall Show along with meeting up with the local farming community to share a beer and reminisce.

Hexham Farmers Market continues twice monthly despite the Market Place being under scaffolding: a few of us continue to be located on the Beaumont street side of the Abbey, whilst everyone else can be found in Cow Garth on the opposite side. We hope you find us!

Tim Foxall from the Spatularium has a great way with words!

Muckle On Tour

A muckle trip to Amsterdam in June included the massive Heineken Brewery along with lots of canals and bikes, plus a couple of beers.

Into July and a trip to the Ouseburn area of Newcastle for the hidden gem of independent cafes, restaurants, the Victoria Tunnel and delicious local ice-cream. It’s also home to multiple microbreweries, all worth a visit. Our wander down the Ouseburn to the Tyne culminated in a visit to The Baltic Centre for Contemporary Art, where Tom was definitely out-headed!

In The Brewery

Back at work and making plans for the next brew day to include delicious nutty Muckle Bari brown ale which hasn’t been available since Christmas.

The brown ale fans amongst you can expect it to be ready by the end of July.
We’re looking forward to joining Sedgefield Farmers Market on the morning of Sunday 6th July and having time to check out the town in the afternoon. Summer events are now starting, and two of our favourites are Brancepeth Castle and Blanchland summer fairs coming up in the next month.

Our annual environmental health visit from the Council is booked so we’re making sure everything is clean and shiny plus all brewery and business records in order… we intend to keep our 5-star status.
